As the ungenerous and causeless criticisms of Mr. P.M. have
produced a literary contest; for the sake of the illiterate,
I have here translated the composition which was the first
subject of his sarcastical genius.  Your's N.H.

Lo, the swift courier hov'ring on the eye!
See in his face the dwindling roses die.
The transient blush by turns informs his cheek,
If, from Ohio, death or conquest ? Speak!
